Through the project of cross-border cooperation “ADRIAIR” Pula Airport plans to withdraw 115 thousand euros irrevocably,

he reported at the press conference at the airport director of Space Svemir Radmilo. The project was launched last year and will end in 2015 and its total value is 1.5 million euros.

Radmilo stressed that one of the main goals was to create preconditions for establishing flights between the two Adriatic coasts and to improve the safety standards of the airports involved in the project. Pula Airport plans to introduce regular or charter flights to the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna, which is one of the strongest industrial and tourist centers in Italy, where more than four million people live.

The current state of trade and commodity exchange between the two Adriatic coasts is showing offensive results in air traffic, said Radmilo. According to him, 62 percent of commodity exchanges are achieved by sea, 32 percent by road and 6 percent by rail. – Air traffic trading in goods is zero and it needs to be changed. It is also unacceptable that there is no airline between Italy and Istria, Radmilo pointed out.

The negotiations for the introduction of flights to Bologna are in progress, and linking Pula with that destination will lead to the exchange and development of traffic in both directions.

– Funds are also planned to finance the Schengen flight of passengers or international arrivals, with which we will embark on a winter break at the end of this or early next year, when we are also starting to adjust to the Schengen regime. Airport and Istria as a tourist destination of this project expect multiple benefits, Radmilo said. He adds, ready to face the challenges of joining the European Union, which is confirmed by the realization of ADRIAIR.

– By providing a new ad hoc service on customer’s request, based on the fleet of airline tickets, Pula Airport becomes more accessible and more flexible, Radmilo emphasized. In addition to the Forli-Cesena municipality, which is the carrier of the project, both airports in Rijeka and Dubrovnik and partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy and Albania participate in the Croatian side.
